I grow these outdoors here in Los Angeles, they get morning till afternoon sun all year long. Watered weekly. I have two others that are just starting to spike.

Those are fantastic. I especially like the flower in the first picture. Got a couple now that are getting ready to bloom, so it's always nice to see others grow this species. How big are your plants? I've read somewhere that the alba-flowered plants are generally more compact than the darker varieties. Is that true in your experience or not?

Yes the Alba is very compact not much taller then 14", where as the others have canes well over 24" tall. One of the plants is actually potted in same pot as a Dend. Speciosum, the nursery that I got it from did not know it was two different plants untill I pointed it out. I've kept them together, since they are both easy to grow outside.
I have always liked these plants, easy to grow in my area. I have a couple that I'm going to mount to trees this year, ill post pictures when that is done or they bloom next year.

I discovered the hard way that these guys despise high humidity. I've put the now-leafless canes outside in the hope they'll recover.

What was your experience with high humidity? The reason I ask is because my plants of this species thrive in high humidity, putting on some great growth during our hot and humid summers when they're outdoors. Did your high humidity coincide with heavy rain during their dormancy?

I grow them outdoors here in Los Angeles, where I live we get lows in the 40s in winter and highs in the 100s, the RH here is in the low teens in summer, we are in a drought for the last couple of years with very little winter rain. I had a seedling in the GH for a couple of years and it grew about the same as ones outdoors. I plan on mounting a couple to my tree this year.
