Enablement Post/Gloating/Happy/Etc
 

Ok, I just got a box from Hausermann that was a bit of a surprise. I know I ordered them, but they were delayed a week by bad weather up north, so I added the miltonia onto the order by phone Tuesday or Wed this week. I got no shipping notification, but Fedex rang the doorbell and I found these (Flickr link...I know it requires extra effort to click (lol)).

I'm very happy with the plants...very very happy. I didn't even expect any of them to be in spike for what I paid. Only bad thing is that I think the milt and the tolumnia would really really love to have a good repotting job into a bigger container. I'll wait till after flowering.

However, the miltonopsis, and the tolumnia are in spike (tol is blooming), and the two little paph villosum seedlings have 3 and 2 new growths each on them. They're selfs of Eclipse and Gold Treat (couldn't find a photo for Gold Treat). I ordered two seedlings at some ridiculous price, like 4.99. I expected to get a relatively scrawny little one growth seedling for that.

Please note, you are forbidden to see the kitchen clutter that I swept aside to photograph the new kids. In fact, you find your eyes simply drawn to the plants, and not the syrup bottle, etc.

Congrats on all the healthy plants. I to have been impressed with Hausermann Orchids. I ordered a seedling Cattleya and got a Cattleya with 12 canes and its shooting out two more and it was in bud :)

Oooh! Lucky you, nice fast shipping. Those are beautiful orchids! The Tolumnia is gorgeous, really like the flower. Your Miltoniopsis looks very nice and soon to bloom. I've never ordered from Hausermann, everyone always seems very happy with their plants. I would be doing a happy dance!

Lol, I've spent the last 2.5 hours photographing, watering, and staring at the new orchids. They should certainly be sunburnt by all the attention. I just finished moving them into their temporary isolation quarters (my laundry room west window) while I make reasonably sure they're nothing coming in with them.

Wow, what beautiful, healthy plants! I'm excited that your order turned out so well, because I made an order last night from Hausermann as well!

Ok, tell us what you ordered...so I can see what I missed (lol).

Anything you didn't buy from Hausermann's is something missed out on! Haha. I just got two phals, one Sin-Yaun Golden Beauty and one Jiuhbao Angela. I'm even happier with my order now that I see how healthy yours is. I love the tol blooms!

Those are nice, delicate colors on the Angela and I always admire phals in golden and sunset shades. I hope both are in spike :)

Yes, they are! If you don't mind me asking, how were the root systems on your chids? Besides being dry, was there a lot of roots, were they for the most part in good condition?

Well, I didn't unpot anything...because due to the roots, I don't think I could unpot either the tol or the milt without repotting it. The roots clearly say..give me a bigger home. What roots I could see (on top and coming out pot holes) were very nice.

The paphs, well I couldn't see any roots, but the top growth was so vigorous, I couldn't imagine they're rotted.

Everything will be repotted, but I'd rather let them settle in a few weeks at least before I do that. The miltonia seemed to be mostly a mass of root, with little media in it..so I'll have to watch it and consider watering it quite frequently. The tolumnia is in such a tiny clay pot, that I don't think I need fear overwatering it if I water 2 times a week. I'll play it by ear and weight of pot on the paphs for now.
