Warblers!!!

I love Warblers, and other birds too. But the warblers are what tear me away from orchid board. Here is one that I feel lucky to find every year. Usually only 1-3 show up for the year in New York State. Its a far more southern breeder. It hails from the Caribbean or Central America.

So to boot, this is one of the first warblers I have seen this migration season.

Wow, that is a cute little bird!
Warblers are not having an easy time, I have read, and some fear that many will become extinct due to over-hunting by cats. :(

Great birding!
I went out to the Bashakill on Sunday. It was still to snowy to get on the trails, and most of the waterways were still frozen, but we did see many eagles and some migrating waterfowl.
I am surprised your little warbler friend is traveling already. I had better keep my eyes peeled here, too

Thanks!

I'm blown away by the fotos some OB folks post and you are no exception! It would be another hobby on my bucket list. Make a poster of that second shot...I'd buy it!

Such a cute little bird!
The second one, you got a nice little moment. Great angle! :)

I am amazed by how much distance these little guys can travel and why they do such a tiring job instead of staying in one place and eat and enjoy life. lol

I love that second photo. Such a wonderful inquisitive expression.

Wow thanks. Honestly I took about 400 photos of this bird and only got about ten or so good photos. If ever I do make the poster I'll be sure to try to sell it to you.:D

Its the longer days. Lots more time to hunt for bugs to feed their young. Also, its less crowded in North America, so they have less competition for nesting and food.
Because of winter, there is also a larger number of insect hatches.

Here is my latest good picture of a warbler. The Pine Warbler. To me it looks like someone took a bird and dipped it in gold dust. This was also the first warbler I learned about when I took ornithology. So it comes with some nostalgia.

Great Photos! Get the posters ready...and put me on the mailing list. I may have overlooked it, but did you mention the name of the first Warbler? He is phenomenal - the second one is also beauty. You have a great eye!
Thanks for taking the time to shoot the shots, review the results, pic the winners and allowing us to enjoy them with you!

Oh my goodness, what glorious birds and beautiful pictures! I would love to see one of these in person.

Tindomul 04-08-2015 03:32 PM

Oops, in my excitement I forgot to put a name on it. Its the Yellow-throated Warbler.
