Help with Lemförde hybrid and other Angraecoids
 

I'm catching the Angraecoid bug... Angraecum equitans, Aerangis fastuosa and newest arrival- Angraecum Lemförde White Beauty x magdalenae sorry if the name isn't correct.

For the Lemförde hybrid:
I heard that certain Angraecoids don't like their roots disturbed; I got a reply saying the Lemförde hybrid can/should be repotted. I'm planning on using LECA, so in the future, repotting won't disturb the roots as much. I may wait a week or two to repot.
-I noticed the plant is a little wobbly in the pot. (Maybe the height of the plant?)
-It also leans in the pot.. Might be worth mentioning.
-I took off some old, dry leaf stems.. But the base of the plant looks a little yellow/orangish. Is this normal?

For all/most Angraecoids:Does anyone regularly spray them with fungicide?
Both the fastuosa and equitans have brown or black areas around the stem and the fastuosa has a black area around 1 cm on the bottom side of a leaf. The fastuosa is in bud and is growing new roots off of an older root. The equitans started growing a new leaf 5 days ago. **I have more info about them in my orchid showcase.. Some of the setup info is under Vanda coerulea.**

Looks very healthy, especially with two bonus growths :). If you feel the need spray fungicide, I should probably go out and spray mine soon too.

Thanks! I feel more assured now. :) If you think it looks healthy, I'll trust your judgement. Hopefully it will take well to repotting soon.
Do you spray all of your collection with fungicide, or just certain orchids? I haven't sprayed any of my orchids with fungicide as a preventative, but I might on some of them.
Most of my orchids are growing new roots, growths/fans/leads, or leaves.. It must be spring! :D

It is great to see Angraecums becoming more popular! Good luck with it!
I have had to move some of mine. Recently, I moved my Ang. elephantinum into LECA/basket pot from a mount.
I soak the Angraecum for about an hour to try to soften the roots, gently remove any medium, then put them in dry medium and don't water for a few days to allow the roots time to heal. I then wait to fertilize for a few weeks. My Angs seem to appreciate a little extra calcium and they can be prone to crown rot if conditions are cool and there is not a good breeze to help dry them.

All generally, but a larger emphasis on 'bad' ️looking plants and any plants around them.:)

I'm thinking about putting the Lemförde hybrid (75% magdalenae) right by my bigger phrags and Lc. Final Blue. *Under a T5HO bulb and southern window. The fan gently blows the leaves of the phrags. The temps stay above 66°F night, the day temp ranges from 78-90°F. The only problem is the humidity... I haven't finished making the cover yet. :blushing:
I'm making a cover like the one of my first smaller setup. I'm almost done, but I have to finish the zippers. Argh!

Oh yeah! I also got a Phal amboinensis var. flava in the same shipment. :D
I moved one of the phals I got from Hilltops to something like S/H.. So far it looks happier than it was in the sphag. Instead of using 1 pot, I used two so I could remove it if I need to "air it out."

I have a mag. that I have grown from a small seedling. Mine gets Cattleya light, the leaves nearly touching the T5HO lights but I have heard they do equally well in shade. Mine is in large red lava rock and six-inch basket pot and likes plenty of water. It doesn't seem to mind low humidity or cooler winter home temperatures. The mag is one of the 'larger' Angraecums but it isn't really an unmanageable size. I am guessing that and the temperature tolerance is why the mag was crossed again with the Lemforde. :)

I've been reading that Angraecoids can vary in what they prefer from one plant to the next well.. Some of them. That's why there's different cultural advice, supposedly. I've seen things saying (for magdalenae) warm + med. light, to intermediate and high light.
I'm happy with the mag hybrid's size.. It looks almost monsterous compared to the equitans. I wouldn't mind having a sesquipedale, but the size concerns me.

Okay, I figured I should ask before it's too late..
What should I do with my Angraecum equitans? The 3rd leaf from the top has fallen off. I'm worried because it's not an old leaf.

I've been watching the leaf axils, and there's a couple that turned yellow, to orange, and then finally reddish brown. I sprayed peroxide on the suspicious areas last night, and then put two drops of dragon's blood on the orange areas. (I spread it around to make a thin layer.)
I just looked, and I saw that the leaf was missing, and the parts still attached to the base are orange and red. Hopefully this isn't the dreaded stem rot? The leaf is still green except where it detached.

I have both Bonide Copper spray, and CuSO4... I have generic Cleary's too. I'm not sure if Angraecoids are sensitive to certain chemicals.
