Dendrophylax funalis
 

Got this on eBay a couple of years ago, first blooming for me, likes being close to fan, mist every morning, water twice a week in S,S,F less in winter, fertilize every week in growing season.



I also have a D. Fawcetti, I found that the fawcetti likes it in the hottest dankest area in the GH, any air movement and the root tips stop growing.



I grow this mounted to a piece of epiwep wrapped twice around with hygolon, I wanted something that would not rot and would hold some moister.

I find this very easy to grow, a heck of a lot easier then the ghost frog which I have killed my share of.

Awesome, I have this one for years, grows but never bloomed. How much light you would say yours get? I think I may be watering too much, it doesn't have any issues but I heard leafless like dry winters to spike?

I will mist plant one or two times a week in winter and really wet plant once a week, I will also fertilize on the same day I thoroughly water plant. During spring and summer I mist 2 to 3 times a day and water thoroughly 2 times a week and feed once a week as above. I tend to keep things wet in summer and much drier in winter.

The plant gets the most light the GH has to offer, plant hangs at very top. From Nov. Till May no shade cloth, I will use 40% aluminet shade cloth from May till Nov. So plant gets more then cattleya light. Orchids can take alot more sun and brightness then most people give them credit for.

Many thanks, so I have to water much less now and also provide much more light :-) Will see if it will help. Mine is also mounted on the tree fern, and I am still not sure I like it :-)

I didn't want to start a new thread, but I just thought I would share a photo of my currently poor performing Dendrophylax funalis. Despite seemingly ideal conditions recently, it has failed to put out any growth in close to 6 months. Maybe I just need to give it more time? I attached half a rapeseed cake to the mount on either side of the plant to hopefully give it a boost. As you can see, it needs it!
