Blc. Your Mine 'NN' culture and information

I just purchased this Blc. I grow Phals very well, but have no experience with miniature intergeneric cattleya types. Can someone offer advice as to light requirements, watering, fertilizer and any other pertinent information?

Thank you

I just bought one at the MVOS show last weekend, so I don't have a lot of specifics for you....I plan to grow it as I do most of my other catts--fairly high light (south window indoors, dappled light on the south porch for the summer) and intermediate temps (nighttime lows in the low 60's and higher during the day). I do plan to grow mine mounted on bark as I have a bad tendency to overwater my catt alliance orchids, and humidity even in the winter rarely drops below 40%, so if it's anything like my Blc. Maikai or Slc. Jewel Box it should be happy.

With luck the more experienced growers will add better information for you!

Happy growing!

I bought mine last July, in Puerto Rico. See my post titled 'Orchid Hunt Rio Piedras PR'. I kept it in a covered porch that got direct sunlight from 9 AM till about 1:00 PM. When the weather turned cold, I put it under a set of 4 high output t5 fluorescent lights (2 3500k, 2 6500k). It bloomed last month. A real cutie. Posted a picture on the post mentioned above. Wonder what the 'NN' stands for, and how that variety made it to the locations of these first three posts.

I got mine at the MVOS show also! The grammar of the name bothers me :p ah well, it's a cute little thing. I love the fragrance. I have never had a Catt. alliance before either, so it will be an adventure for both of us!

MVOS put on a great show again this year--hope you joined the club if you weren't already a member (keep 3/21 open for the Ball State orchid repotting trip).

I haven't noticed a fragrance on mine yet, though the C. trianaei that's in bloom in the same room may be overpowering it.

The name is a bit interesting, though the grammar bugs me, too. NN is the cultivar selection of the Your Mine grex. There are several different species/hybirds that have NN as a cultivar designation, such as Onc. Tsiku Marguerite 'NN1', so perhaps there's a breeder out there who's using it for preferred plants?

The hybrid Your Mine was registered by Newman's Nurseries in 2014. I suspect the NN comes from that.

Thank you all so much. Yes, the use of "Your" rather than "You're" irritates me as well. Lovely little plant, and sweetly fragrant - I just couldn't resist.
Thanks again, everyone.

I have not joined yet...everyone I met seems very nice though! I actually didn't bring enough money :blushing: well, I mean, my money went for 'chids. But hopefully I will join in the near future!
