Oops I won a Tolumnia Genting Pink Lady.
 

I saw these little plants and thought I have room for this plant. I bid on a Tolumnia Genting Pink Lady and won. I have 2 south facing windows I can put it in.

I have been reading up on them and would like more advice from people that have kept them. So anyone have any pointers let me know. Like do they need a temp change to spike? I know they don't want to be wet all the time and like to dry out. What other stuff?

My romance with them is over! Followed the rules but found they got scaly and unproductive. Had them mounted-then saw an article in Orchid journal when a grower potted them in tiny pots with coconut fiber and had great results. Nothing worked for me but I know you'll get much more positive feedback from the experts...they're cuties and good luck!

My tolumnias are mounted get as much light as I can give them. They are dry by bight. I will mist daily and soak, maybe 1 or 2 times a week.

I think they bloom when the growths are sufficiently mature, but I'm not sure. So I'll be watching for other answers here :)

I have mine in a very tiny pot without medium and it is starting to outgrow it. It likes a lot of light and will bloom once the new growth matures. I water mine everyday and is usually dry by night.

What kind of pot?

Clay pot

I've had the best success in clay pots or net pots with no media, or maybe just a little charcoal or gravel in the bottom. I doubt you can give them too much light indoors, but get them used to direct south sun slowly. Warm conditions year round. No temp change or anythinig to trigger flowering, just good light. High humidity, regular water and light fertilizer, and they do need perfect drainage and never soggy conditions.

As for most miniatures, they will not tolerate a low level of pests the way big plants might. Watch closely for mealies, scale, mites, thrips, etc. and treat aggressively at the first sign.

Ok thank I have a good place for it. My only concern is my house is not that warm in winter time.

I winter mine in a sun room which is pretty cool (58 F at night and only 68F during the day) and it is doing just fine. The amount of light is most important.

Ok good to hear. I will put it in my kitchen window. it's one of those grow windows that sticks out like a mini green house. It's also south facing and gets lots of sun. It will gets some humid in there from dishes and cooking.
