Platystele stenostachya
Hi all,
This one has been sulking lately since I tried making a cutting out of it. But its been in bloom for the last two months and I decided today to take some pics. Its hard to get the tiny blooms into focus even with a macro lens. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8636/...4be4ac73_b.jpgPlatystele stenostachya by tindomul1of9, on Flickr |
Very cool! That is a truly tiny flower!
The tiny Platystele species are just amazing. Hopefully, my johnstonii will grow large enough to bloom this year, although that might not happen. It's finally up to three leaves and it only had one when I got it back in October. It also happens to be my smallest plant species even including Bryophytes :yikes: |
Smaller than bryophytes!! I don't believe it. But its not the smallest flower.
|
No, not the smallest flower, but still tiny. IOSPE lists it's flower as .2", which is pretty darn small. What is the smallest flower, or orchid flower?
I'll start a thread for my really tiny stuff, later today :D |
Very cute little guy.

Cool, the smallest flower however is the flower of Lemna species (duckweed). Its a type of Aroid.

Great picture, I love this plant. Mine has decided to stop blooming and grow a bit more.
