Zygopetalum-like orchid?
3 Attachment(s)
Attachment 108206Attachment 108207Attachment 108208 I think I got it right this time 😜 last time I thought I got a zygo and it was completely different. I stopped by TJ's and lo and behold there it was! It smells real lovely, a very light floral scent similar to a lily. Anyone have any ideas what it might be? It came with no tag so it is destined to be a NOID but I don't care bc it's beautiful.

it looks like a zygonisia cynosure which is a zygo x aganisia cross. The common one is zygonisia cynosure but there are a couple of other crosses.
|
Very pretty! I am glad you found what you wanted. :)

It's very pretty.
|
I see it at TJ every now and then.
Like the color a lot!!! :) |
This does look like Zygonisia, but there are Zygotoria (Zygo x Pescatorea) and Zygonisatoria (Zygo x Pescatorea x Aganisia) and other types that are very similar. A Zygopetalum intergeneric hybrid for sure, but it shouldn't get tagged with anything you can't be certain of.

Nice one!

Orchidsarefun thanks for the info, it looks very much like a Zygonisia Cynosure after googling for images. Leafmite I am so happy to have it, thanks No-Pro-mwa, NYCorchidman thank you, PaphMadMan, thanks for replying and your help :) White Rabbit thank you, btw how is your monster Sharry baby doing? I love when you post pics of that monster 😜

I agree it's a Zygonisia hybrid (Zns). Look up Zygonisia Cynosure 'Blue Water Sailing' & 'Blue Birds'. You can search for some pics on here as well. :) Nice find, though PaphMadMan is right not to "officially tag" it.
Makes me think how when I first first started I wondered how so many people seemed to lose their tags when it would seem so important if you care. But lucky for me I've lost a couple of tags of plants I still know exactly what they are, what the tag said, so I can make a new tag for them. One great reason to keep records of your plants and care! |
Agreed, I cannot tag it, but I just wanted to know what it maaay be ;) I wish that stores like TJ and HD would know that it's very important to keep the tags in the pot. Believe it or not our Lowe's always keeps their tags in the pot but I always find those particular orchids infested with mealy bugs :(
