I got spots
4 Attachment(s)
Morning from “tomorrow”,
I got spots on some of my older Orchids. What are they, what caused them and what can I do about them? I am also adding pictures of the spots on two plants, also pictures of two of the new Orchids I planted yesterday. I put them in wire baskets just for the heck of it. Tell me what you think of it! One has part of the hard coconut shell in the bottom to slow the water down as it runs out, the other has the husk packed around the side with a piece of husk across the bottom, it doesn’t slow the water down. Also, is it OK to cut the dead stems off where the flowers were? They look dead and have turned brown. TIA |
:hmm: Those spots don't look good. Might be mold or a fungus? :scratchhead: I'm not an expert in this area, so maybe someone else has an idea?
Usually cutting off anything that is brown, shriveled and dead is good. If the stem is dried out and isn't receiving nutrients from the plant, then that is a sign it's ok for you to cut it. |
I can't grow large American style roses because of the fungus, the smaller roses do good.
Thanks |
I have a:
ICTC Mancozeb 80WP says it works on "black spots" Twice a week! Dithane M-45 nictec 800 g/Ks mancozeb says works on "black spots" Use twice a week Anyone know anything about this stuff? |
I'm not familiar with the first one you listed but I have heard good things about Dithane. Just be cautious when using a chemical such as this...lung, skin and eye protection is important.

Thanks, I'll watch it.
Maybe Ray will say something before I use them! Thanks. |
