Setting Zone Area
 

I have looked and searched but am not finding what my area zone is or how to set it?

The info that is with my user name that is at the top when I have posted?

Looking for the zone that Brisbane Australia is?

It would be nice to see other members zone location so to understand their posting content being climate influenced.

It's an American thing with those zones.
Google for 'hardiness zones Australia'
Or just find similar climates in the US.
Florida maybe ?

Alot of us grow indoors for most if not all of the year. So it isn't as necessary to know.
On my gardening forums I gathered the impression that Australia has a different hardiness system than we do.
But it seems to have to same issues ours does.
Zones are based off minimum winter temperature.
So I'm in 9b.
But I don't like that system.
In California we have high density of micro climates.
For instance, I get twice the rain as the next city over (a 10 minute drive), but they stay much cooler in summer. They have much higher humidity, and its significantly windier here.
The differences aren't too obvious but they make a huge difference when gardening.
So we use the Sunset system.
Which takes into account a large variety of factors. Not just winter temperature.
By the sunset system I'm zone 23.
It seems Australia's climate zones can also vary wildly in some areas.

Micro climates is very much where we live as it is surrounded by sea water.
In summer the sea water is 23c or 74f and in winter the water is 17c or 63f. It also increases our humidity by quite a lot so we are more tropical here than on the mainland.

Grow zone info is displayed (on the actual board) in the upper right corner, across from member's user name. If using tapatalk, you need to look at the member's profile.

To include your grow zone, click on "User CP" (horizontal menu, just beneath the Orchid Board banner at the top of the page) - then, in the control panel menu (vertical menu, second from left), click "edit your details". The zone option is about midway down.

I do believe that Australia grow zone numbers to the temperatures are different than in the US and Canada ... I know that my US zone is 9, which is sub-tropical. 9 CAN get as low as 20s F, tho that's quite rare (tho not completely unheard of) in my area.
