New bloom on my slipper with no name, can anyone identify it please?

It is a fairrieanum x complex green hybrid. I have quite a few of those (and up to 5-6 pcs of some).
Your flower strongly resembles Fairly Stoned, which came to market abt 3 years ago. It originated from Lehua, who normally supplies plants with labels. I have abt 60% confidence in this identification. |
Since I posted the photo I checked Lehua Orchids site and I believe I found a match which strongly confirms your identification. A hybrid of two Paph. Fairly stoned, result: "Fairly sauced".(#00208 on Lehua site),I believe is a good match.
The place I obtained the plant does business with Lehua Orchids, another strong link. Tag and bloom missing, I got it at discounted price 1 yr. ago. I like to be surprise when they bloom. Thanks for your help. |
I normally don't like complex hybrids, but this one definitely shows the P. fairieanum influence. Nice, and a keeper!
|
Yes, definitely a keeper and the flower is fairly large, about 4"-5"
I have other "surprise"ones. Hope they turn up as nice. |
Fairly Sauced (I have seen 6-8 of these) tends to have a different dorsal shape. I would give that possibility 15-20% probability. Also, that hybrid was released much later (July 2013).
Fairly Stoned is the stronger candidate. That seedling population was released at least 18 months earlier. |
More information is always good. The release date helps. I am learning the various species and start to recognize features. Happy they flower for me at this point.
I sent my photo to Graham at Lehua Orchids to see if he can recognize it.Will let you know his answer. Thank you. |
It's either Fairly Stoned or Fairly Sauced.
Both look awfully similar. |
