I got to looking at it today to find the tag and lo and behold I found 2 fat spikes...When one goes tag hunting no tellin what he might find  it is Neostylis Pinky 'starry night'... these are so micro spiked but they are spikes indeed. http://rkidkelly.smugmug.com/Flowers...5_143621-L.jpg thank you Santa Clause!!! left me some spikes!!! |

had 4 spikes last winter and lost them all....These plants worry me when it gets cold and they start to spike....kind of stuck when your grown in a low budget greenhouse. If it gets too cold I lose them. I take them inside I lose them....Maybe I can get it to spike in the summer instead ya think? :waving

I have that same clone and mine is also in double spike, yay!!!
I have had mine for about three years. It spiked around October every year (did yours spike at other times of the year??), but each time they dried up and died. I was determined to see flowers this year and put the mounted plant into a pot filled with moss. So far, it's been painfully slowly developing, but I'm glad I made the transition. I should have done it two years ago. lol I wonder what kind of smell it has when the flowers open. |
I also have this little baby, and mine will spike next year for me :) I can't wait to see what yours looks like, it's a big plant! Nice growing RJS!

there was only 1 pinky now its 3..they seem to like the company. It grew slow until it had the pups then it started to pop up and out with the spikes. All 3 plants have had spikes. no flowers yet for me though. I got another chance now. See how we do getting some flowers for all our plants this time around :bowing
oh and it is the 'starry night'..dang the other half of the broken tag revealed more truth..I edited the original post and didnt want you to think I just fooling around with ya... |
Mine has only 1 spike. I'm growing it mounted. I find that it is much happier with the mount in a clear plastic bin to improve the humidity and general moisture retention. Until I did that it was much too dry to be happy. It is a HUGE spike with about 20 buds, so I am not complaining :)

I think being dry yes causes them some problems. I think that's why I lost them over the summer. The cold ruins them in the winter. Cant wait to see all our flowers!!! :)
I got to get this one to flower.... |
Good for you, Carrie!
Well, both my spikes are sooooooo slow! They have been pretty much the same size they were three months ago. I've never seen anything slower. better be very good. hahaha |
