Will these work???
I've been recently wanting to mount a few orchids and I found some wood I wanted to try it with...I found these in an empty lot I took a wire brush and removed all the rotted wood. It seems to me like they would work well because they have grooves galore for the roots...but I wanted to ask the experts first...The only thing I'm thinking about is the wood might rot quickly. Let me know what you think.
I forgot the attachments and it won't let me upload I'm going to try to repost...sorry |

The wood looks pretty soft, I would think it would rot rather quickly when watered all the time

Ok that's what I was worried about....back to my idea of finding oak limbs.

I have a hybrid chestnut tree and I would just love to cut a few branches for mounting orchids but, unfortunately, it is vulnerable to the chestnut blight and so I don't dare. However, if it succumbs to the blight, the wood is NOT going to waste. American Chestnut is a nice, long-lasting wood. :)
