Fragrant oncidium ID help? Similar to oncidium twinkle
3 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone!
I bought this orchid for $8 at Trader Joe's today! I wasn't going to buy anything, but for that price, and for the fact that it smells lemony and sweet, I could NOT resist!! This looks like an oncidium twinkle, but the flowers have a light peachy color. The plant had 11 pseudobulbs developed, and I always repot when I bring plants home. I decided to do my first ever plant division today, too! I am not too worried if I lose the buds second spike due to stressing the plant- what do you guys think will happen? Thanks, everyone! |
Very nice plant! Thank you for sharing.

What a wonderful find! Congratulations!
The best way to find the name of a plant is to ask the vendor. You could explain your case to Trader Joe's and ask them if they would be willing to provide you with the name of the grower. :) Twinkles do come in many colors but I could not say if yours is one or not. It would probably be useful for you to know what you have as Twinkles don't need quite as much light and like more water than many other commonly sold Oncidiums. Good luck! |
Great find!!!
I have no idea what it is other than it could just be a "strange" twinkle. There are a few different color forms, so it might as well be. I don't know. Anyways, what will happen? I think both new divisions will grow very well and bloom again for you! :) |
