Rage Quit (almost)
While picking up the pot, I snapped a newly developing sheath off of my Blc. Ports of Paradise 'Emerald Isle'
I was angry at myself and weeped a little. I almost rage quit this obsession. I will carry on, though. |
Sad about your sheath, glad you will carry on. Hang in there and keep growing :)

You are not alone. During the summer I had such a battle with mealybugs I thought of throwing all the plants in the trash. I've snapped off new growths, fried some leaves in the sun, dropped one on its crown and have really destroyed the appearance of that plant. I say I'll only grow succulents but then I just buy another plant. Can't stop torturing myself!

The nice thing about plants they grow back. Yes it sucks your plant now has a set back but hey you still have. The plant will keep growing so it's all good!
|
It's happened to me more the once! Your plant may put out a new growth more quickly now since it isn't growing a bloom. So there is that too look forward to.

Beginner or seasoned veteran...everyone messes up.ROCK ON!
|
I agree, we've all done the same thing.
|
Sorry about your accident. I'm yet to meet an orchid enthusiast who hasn't done the exact thing. Chin up and soldier on. :)

Think we all damaged a plant once in a while unfortunally.
Personally i snapped off a healthy spike few weeks ago from a pretty phal hybrid and every time i water this plant i think 'yeah good job walt' :( |
Sorry for your accident. Was it just a sheath, or were there buds inside?
