Pescatorea dayana spike?
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys. Kevin here. I recently bought a blooming size Pescatorea dayana and was wondering if this is a spike (right underneath one of the roots). It looks different from the new growths, but a spike shouldn't be appearing so soon. The vendor told me that she divided this from a large plant about a month ago and just potted this thing up a week ago. Any care info would also be appreciated as I can only find vague info. What I had salvaged from the vendor is that Pescatoreas don't want to dry out, like warm conditions, and get very large.

Yes, Kevin, probably a spike. Care is intermediate with bright indirect light (under the bench) and good ventilation especially after watering. Very even conditions year round. Eventually place the pot in a saucer and water from below. Plants can develop a strong rootball and dislike repotting. They don't take more space as a standard Cattleya.
