Tolumnia Tequila Sunrise

I bought this with one spike in bloom. It's been here with me for about one month or so, and two more spike, although smaller, are also in full glory.

I wonder if the tag is correct because Tequila Sunrise I had in the past all had this rust or orange tone and the "skirt" was much rounder.
Then again, I have two Tolumnias of the same batch and one is white and the other one is yellow with spots.
Crazy how gene jumbling works.

The pink flower is Genting Pink Lady.
I'm adding it for visual fun for you visitors.
It is also very fragrant. kinda odd for Tolumnia I think, but I do not protest.

I'm envious! I had a Genting orange that got attacked by mealy and scale. It died before I could see it bloom and they aren't easy to come by here.

Really cute. It seems some Tolumnia are very variable in their looks. I even had one bloom at different times of the year and look quite different each time.

Tolumnia orchids are one of my favorite plants. I have acquired several of these plants in full bloom and now some of them are in bloom again. This is the only orchid I have seen in situ.

I vacationed in the Grand Caymen Islands and the resort I stayed at had Tolumnia growing in their hedges. I thought they were placed there but they were actually attached to the branches. I asked a grounds keeper about these plants and he told me they were orchids and they have to prune them or they will take over!

Wow! That's amazing! I really have to try again. I have the scale and mealy under control now. Diatomeceous earth in the pots seems to help.

Really like the colors. I have 3 tolumnia now and can't wait to see them bloom, I like the small size of them that means I can have more in less space.

They can take over my hedges any time they want.

There was this store here where they carried tons of them in spike and they were cheap.
Unfortunately that store no longer carries potted orchids.
Everyone is going for cut flowers I guess. money money money!

Now there is a local vendor who carries these in the spring into fall.

I used to grow to challenge myself, but once I rebloomed them, I kind of started to just buy in bloom and toss. lol

I could have sent so many of these to you! lol

They are small plants, but some are bigger and some are smaller. The yellow one I have is very small, which I like. The thing is smaller one tends to make less flowers.
but even the bigger ones are not that big, so they are great for space saver! :)

very nice

The Tolumnia hedge at the resort where pinks and yellows. With so many in bloom they had that orchid scent.
