New Dendrobium with yellow rings on new leaves
4 Attachment(s)
Dear All,
I have attached the pictures of a new joined dendrobium from a discount store (no scientific names since there was no tag on the plant) The first surprise was to find and deal with the mealy bugs... I never had it before and had to manage to avoid infestation to the other plants by keeping it in quarantine. I was able to deal with the good advice to use isopropyl alcohol. But the orchid got pretty shriveled, I believe due to the mealy bugs sucking on it. The second surprise was to find the yellow rings in some young leaves (see attached pictures) and was wondering if it can be any viruses or any other kind of thing? Any advice is really welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance, Risalegre |
I don't know if you can get orchid fungicide in your part of the world....I highly doubt it if you can find it in the 'suk'....maybe order it from your local pharmacy (Bayer or Captan fungicide)

Thanks for your suggestion, I do have Physan 20 can it help? Risalegre |
Yes, Physan 20 can help but it will not eradicate the fungi infestation.
There is a list of home remedies= particularly Ray's suggestion: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...-remedies.html ---------- Post added at 05:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:22 PM ---------- I also got this concoction from the other forum I was in: 15 drops dish soap 1/4 tablespoon cinnamon extract(the one you get in the supermarket baking aisle) 2 cups tepid water put it in a spray bottle and spray the plant all over....make some more batch and soak the pot for 10 minutes soaking the roots and the media mix. repeat the next week |
