Dendrobium bicaudatum
A recent acquisition. I was actually planning to buy dendrobium canaliculatum to try out at my apartment balcony. I found one and the vendor/hobbyist also suggest this bicaudatum. It was already blooming so couldn't take credit for that
http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...53da5f9d0c.jpg It was a division from a wild plant and it was mounted on a stick. As her recommendation I potted it with charcoal and a bit of tree fern shredding, but the shape become very awkward. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...f5f10b4d46.jpg The next pot is the canaliculatum. After a week, both started to grow new roots so I'm happy!!! |
Really cool flowers! They remind me of antelope haha :)

Dendrobium bicaudatum
Thanks Brian, I really like it too, it's the classical antelope shape of spatulata dendrobium. The species comes from Sulawesi and Maluku. Last July at a large fair in Jakarta, a vendor brought a reddish version of the species from Sulawesi if I knew I could grow it on my balcony, I would buy one of those haha

Good luck.
Dendrobiums hate me, but I think they're pretty cool. I've tried my hands with some canaliculatum hybrids, it's a wonderful species with a nice fragrance, and it's small growing, which is a big plus for me. Bicaudatum is not not a species I'm familiar with, but I like it. Is it fragrant? |
