Why I like to bloom plants more than once.
This is my one of my Tying Shin Fly Eagles. All pics are from the same plant but different blooming times.
First pic is from June 2013 and is the second blooming for me. First bloom looked about the same. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...edium/TSFE.JPG Second pic is from April of 2014. Color is more vibrant and the form improved somewhat. Markings are alittle more obscure though still there. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...CN4689_50_.JPG Third pic is from today, August 31,2014. Color is even more vibrant and almost solid, no noticeable markings. Form has also improved appearing fuller and rounder though smaller as its been carrying a seed pod started in mid April. It has however continued to grow more leaves and roots and 2 new spikes. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...C_0044_50_.JPG So even if a plant doesn't necessarily bloom well the first time, giving it a chance and room in your collection for a second or third blooming might prove very rewarding indeed. Thanks for this glimmer of hope! I'm hoping the same for my Paph that arrived in bud and bloomed with wonky petals :)

So beautiful but each bloom is so different-color improves each time. I assume your culture doesn't vary. Have you noticed this on other species?

YW CambriaWhat. That's one of the reasons why I decided to make this post. I'm sure your Paph will be wonderful next go round! ---------- Post added at 12:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:17 PM ---------- Quote:
This can apply to most any plant you have regardless of the species. Just give them the proper culture and conditions, nature does the rest! Judi |
Awesome!
I have also had some orchids where blooms didn't look so great the first time or two, but then went on to have very nice flowers after. |
How wonderful to see orchid plants rebloom. That is why I grow them so I will get flowers every blooming cycle.

That is quite a change...I think people tend not to wait because they have space constraints and the list of wants continues to grow, but this definitely shows that waiting can pay off. Beautiful!

I wonder if this can be traced back to the one parent - speciosa/tetraspis 'c1'. My 'c1' has different colour blooms at each blooming and, like yours, doesn't seem to be related to the season ( warm/cold/intermediate ). Whatever the reason, yours ( and mine ) has certainly improved with age.

Wow!! That last picture is beautiful.
