Eurychone rothschildiana

Eurychone rothschildiana - pretty bud little disappointing, it send 3 spikes but all the buds aborted except one. Well, happy for one at least!

Beautiful flower. I love the yummy colors and form. There must be a bug that sucked on the nectars of the buds....I see the edges of the petals being eaten while in its formative days....otherwise it is a healthy plant.

Many thanks Bud, may be so many things, I have like dozen different lizards living at the balcony, some spiders, and many ants :-) Hard to determine who did this, also bees are loving the blooms :-)

Not the easiest to grow. Do you grow it outdoors on your balcony?

nikkik 08-11-2014 10:32 AM

Very cool! Sorry about the other 2 buds, but happy you got one!

Yes euplusia, year round, it grows actually great, looks very healthy, nice thick roots, for some reason the buds just aborted except this one, it did send 3 spikes this year. Very pretty though so no complains. I grow it pretty much like my Phals.

many thanks nikkik, there were moire than 2 buds, it has 3 spikes, and there was probably some 5 buds that fall off.
