I love the way the flowers on this vibrate in the wind! The colors, shape and pattern have moved this plant up on my favorites list!

I have read the description of the scent from several posts and blogs, I've read it described as smelling like juicy fruit gum to rotten meat. My take on the scent, is that it's not great or horrible, it reminds me of fruit that's just about to turn bad stuck in a plastic container with the lid newly opened from it being sealed for a period of time. And it's not an aroma that carries, it can only be detected if you stick you nose up to the plant.

I love those little "shoes" and your photo has just made my "wish list" bigger by one plant (it was on my mind for a while :)).
The scent description was great, and I am always interested in it. Thanx :D

Annak, thank you for the visit and kind words! I hope that you are able to get your plant soon.

Very pretty!!

Good growing!! I had one but never could get the damn thing to bloom. Hell, I was lucky to get one new growth a year even. I don't have the patience for it...but I still love it. Well done!

Thank you, Katrina! I'm sorry yours didn't bloom for you. I know I've had my share of frustrating plants too, I have a hard time with many of the "easy" orchids!

:hello I may have to move to MI ! I bought 2 of these 5 YEARS AGO,gave one to a friend and we cannot get a bloom, just gorgeous leaves. Mine is in sphag. and now outside. It was in shade,it was in more light,a bit of fert. or bloom booster occasionally. So...short of making a big move, any help would be great. Most other bulbos I have luck with. "Easy" orchids...yeah,right!:((

Lol! Love your post! This orchid is given intermediate conditions (warmer range in the summer), bright shade, watered once it has dried out and an inconsistent fertilizing schedule. The grower who gave me this division from his mother plant to me told me that if it's potted it won't bloom unless the leaves hang over the edge of the pot (I don't know how true it is, but he's been growing for over 50 years). I did choose to mount based on this advice though.

What a delightful flower. I love the color and form. You are brave to have a smelly plant in your home....if you have higher humidity that smell will be even stronger.

Thank you for a simple solution...I will be on mount patrol tomorrow and you'll be the first to hear when a magnificent flower reveals itself! Why can't stuff be easy?:bua::violin:
