hello thar

I just realized I've started three threads asking for help since registering last month and I haven't even introduced myself!

Hi! I'm Q! :waving My first two orchids (both phals) died quite soon after I got my hands on them (I was actually too neglectful). Went orchid-free for a few years until last September when my husband gave me a phal NOID for our wedding anniversary. I became SUPER determined to keep it alive this time around, I think because my husband and I had hit a rough patch and I make blatant use of symbols sometimes.

After that, the orchid bug bit me bad. I found out I kind of enjoy repotting. I started keeping a journal to detail my progress and remember mistakes. I went to the orchid show at the New York Botanical Garden last spring and acquired a mini dendrobium. And today I bought my third 'chid! So here I am. :hello

I've already learned some lessons from this hobby, particularly the importance of balancing attention with letting things be. I hope I can help someone here in the future, like all the kind people who've already helped me! Thanks, kind people!

Welcome to the boards. I hate to break this news to you but there are no known cures for OAD (orchid acquisition disorder) other than buying just one or two more because you just can't do without them!
