Cryptocoryne willisii flowers

Hi all,

Found this one in bloom in my emergent vegetation tank. Its probably been blooming for years but it was the first time I noticed it blooming, I don't check that tank very often.:blushing:

Very nice! At first glance I thought it was some kind of a Lilly....The common name (water trumpet) refers to the shape of its inflorescence, which is typical of the arum family.

Yup, love aroids. At one time I was collecting them. I like your reference to carnivorous plants, I guess these flowers do look like pitcher plants a bit.

Looks great! I've got an emergent tank as well. I think I might need to add some Cryps!

Some Echinodorus, Sarracenia leucophylla, a host of random plants I've been picking up and a layer of live moss that is probably approaching 4 or 5" deep. I keep meaning to post pics on OB....

How bright and hot does your Cryp like it?

Tindomul 08-02-2014 10:16 AM

Its under 8 t5 lights and recieves afternoon sunlight. These lights are strong enough for Rain lilies, Stapelia, and Cattleyas. Since its an enclosed tank it gets pretty hot, maybe upper 80's if not higher. Crypts don't like it cool.
