What's wrong with this website that it posts pictures upside down. . .

The photo orientation is sometimes due to the device you are using, or posting via tapatalk

I always use the same device and I always follow the same procedure posting pics. I never use Tapatalk.

The problem is internal to the Orchid Board.

What device do you use?

The forum software only seems to understand Microsoft style orientation metadata in the picture. Most cameras write it that way as well, though not all.

However Android, iPhone and Apple devices seem to use different orientation metadata which older versions of windows, devices like my digital picture frame, and this forum do not understand.

Latest versions of Windows (window 8) seem to now understand the metadata from Android, iPhone and Apple devices, however that's an update in windows, it doesn't mean the devices are writing it using the standards native to windows which is what most forum software has been written to understand (in the past that's what most people used).

An update of the vBuiliten software that orchid board uses may or may not change whether it understands this different metadata, but currently it doesn't.

I have the same problem with pictures from some devices which show sideways on my digital picture frame. Those that show wrongly on that also show wrongly on this forum.

I always solve it by opening the picture on a windows laptop/pc, rotating the picture and saving it (whether or not it looked to be the right way round to begin with), then if need be rotating it back and saving it again. Doing that solves it for both my picture frame and this forum.
