question on terminology
Hello all,
Its me again Matorchid, I have been hearing the terms potting up or potting down. I am not sure if understanding the true sense of the term. does this mean the size of the pot or does it mean the height in the pot? my apologies for asking I should know the answer to this but lately I think im getting it mixed up. Also could you point out link on terms it would be most beneficial thank you Matorchid |
Potting up/down refers to the size of the pot.
This is usually based on the root size when dealing with monopodials such as Phalaenopsis. When dealing with sympodials, such as Cattleyas, then it is more about giving the plant room in which to grow for a year or two. Here's a very good site for most of the orchid terminology.
