I have this keiki which is now mounted onto a tree fern plaque with sphagnum moss. The new growth is now growing with several new roots. I have no idea how to grow this species.
Please help, any advice would be appreciated. |

Does anyone grow this species? Since I had no response besides a bump.

Give it plenty of water and fertilizer during active growth, let it see some cold nights in fall (say down to 40 degrees) and make sure its dry during the cold months.

This only blooms once a year and needs a certain size. Mounted is fine need sunshine and regular flowering fertiliser. It should be growth season now and then it will go into dormancy and bloom in spring. Even in the tropics. Here are a few pics of how magnificent and these are very fragrant. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/11/ezy9use2.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/11/utypy2um.jpg
My father in law has them mounted on his mango tree stump and all over. They are quiet most of the year but when they bloom, magnificent. |
Make sure they are completely dry before watering, and they love lots of sun.

Yes lots of direct strong sun. The photos I uploaded really were them towards the end of the flowering season. They are pendulous and need to hang down..

you have mounted it correctly to allow a pendulous flow since this can grow quite long about two to three feet....your atmosphere will sustain this kind of plant if put outdoors.... two weeks before frost put it indoors in the south facing window....hold water and fertilizer all through winter (December 15 to February 15) but spritz it if the canes shrivel....when you see buds forming on the canes resume water and fertilizer....it has to have a proper rest period or you will end up with keikis instead of flowers....
