For balance I will say that some people here say they have had success with this method. But I think it only works in the right environment (not sure what that would be).

Personally I don't think it gives enough water for one thing, and I always prefer to water with slightly warm water rather than cold. This is Phals we are talking about after all and they are tropical plants.
