Just had my first paph bloom for me. So excited! Just now I checked two of my other paphs and I do believe I have two brand-new spikes forming. What do you think?

Good question! I'm still learning what new spikes look like myself. I've bought a couple in bud but in the last week or so my Paph. Odette's Vision is coming into double spike & it appears Lebaudyanum is preparing one. A third - Paph. President Fred - currently has two blooms on one spike and a second growth looks like your second picture, I've been thinking this means a spike may be coming. The first two looked more like your first pic except that that middle "new growth" (sheath?) is a different color, darker in both cases. That's just my experience so far. (Would post pics if had but dark now!)

Hope these are spikes for sure!

you can feel the bud inside the unseen sheath thru the leaves. it feels... well pregnant n got a little belly going ya know..you can feel it before it shows itself just like a baby too

Do not tet discouraged if you can feel bud, but nothing happens for a while. Paphs have one of the longest 'bud development' times, total 5-6 months from time of initiation.

Best to gently squeeze where it is emerging. If it's a bud then you'Il be able to feel it.

Not to be a party pooper, but I think they are new leaves. Emerging spikes usually have a sheath or are somewhat hairy looking. But hey, leaves are good! :)

I think it's leaves too. ;) I agree though...leaves are good! Leaves create energy for the plant!

Hmmm, don't paph leaves grow from the sides and not the centre? The last spike I had looked just like this as it emerged.

New fans grow from the sides. I'm thinking this fan has not matured yet & that is why you are seeing new leaves.

Well, the first one, the closer up one, that's a new leaf emerging. In the shot with something tiny and kinda dark apparently emerging....not sure, but that fan doesn't appear mature enough for whatever it is to be a bud emerging.

But congrats on that first one in actual bloom!!!

Good job!!!!
