Hi, I've just posted 3 pic's on Ansellia africana on section "growing on mounts" which shows the roots.
You might want to have a look at it, perhaps it may give an idea on how best to grow yours. |

Was fortunate to stumble onto ansellia africana growing in situ on a roadtrip few years back. An experience of a lifetime, and greater respect for this african giant..... these guys are tough, go throuh extremes, from freezing to scorching in the african bushveld. They can also grow into enormous sizes some estimated at over a 1000 kilograms in weight..
I've added a few pictures to share my experience. |
Impressive but rather small pictures.

Noticed they are a bit small, I gather the album (ansellia africana) in my ob profile will give some better results..

We also have several clones of this species. They were part of a larger order, rather than something we specifically wanted, but we've grown, no pun intended, to like them. It took us a while to realize just how much light they can take.
