Summer Solstice Sunrise

Hi!

Here's a photo of the summer sunrise in relation to my back porch. I was amazed to see it lined up with the top of that gate!

I like these astronomical events because they help me relax when the world seems too hectic. Helps me keep things in perspective.

How did you spend the longest day of this year? (I apologize to my Southern Hemisphere friends for the Northern-centric post!)

Awesome, what time was it by you at sunrise?
By the way, beautiful property!
I spent the day before birding, sunrise to sunset. The 20th was only shorter than the 21 by about 1-3 seconds. I was out from 5:15 Am to 9:00PM bird watching, muahahaha.

Tindomul, that question opens a can of worms with me. Western KY is on the eastern edge of the central time zone which means sunrise is around 5:30. It is such a waste of daylight for those of us who work 8-5. In the summer the sun sets around 8 while in the eastern time zones they get daylight as late as 10pm!

I recently saw a very interesting proposal to reduce the 4 continental US time zones to just two--eastern and western. Made a whole lot of sense to me.

All times are GMT -4. The time now is 04:30 PM.
