aerides houlletiana

this is yet another first bloomer, with two spikes, i bought this seedling thinking it will take several years to bloom, well this guys likes to bloom at a very small size.
they do have far larger flowers than those of aerides odorata. houlletiana do have a fascinating color on them. Antonio. Attachment 100578 Attachment 100579 |

Aerides are a very interesting species. They aren't very floriferous but when they do flower they FLOWER! :biggrin:
These are the best orchids to be naturalized into your trees that offer good shade and enough filtered light. Some years its won't bloom at all. I have heard some growers suggest when they flower it is a sign of lots of rains to come in the year. |

Beautiful! I have a rhynchorides seedling that is growing like a weed. I'm hoping that it flowers young like aerides does.
