Brown spots on Oncidium
Hi all. Been meaning to post this question. Seems like this is a fungal infection on my Oncidium. At first I thought it wasn't. I inherited it with them and I thought it was just messed up leaves. Since I have had it it has started putting out 3 new growths and now these are starting to get some spots. Was going to get Physan 20 it Phyton 27 from repotme. Wasn't sure which was better. Any help would be muchly appreciated!http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/08/9adehyty.jpg

Looks like spider mite/and or insect damage to me. First, identify what is causing the problem, then treat the correct problem...BettyE.

I do not find physan 20 effective at all.
So don't waste your money. Phytan 27, I have been meaning to try, but have not. Why don't you give it a shot and see if it helps? By the way, usually if a plant has just one ugly leaf while the rest looks spotless, then trimming off that leaf is the best deal. If spotting comes back even after cutting one leaf, then you can consider going with other route. |
Thanks for the replies :)
BettyE, I have not seen any evidence to suggest that this is insect damage. However, having read through the sticky on this forum the symptoms seem to match the symptoms of a fungal infection. If it were spider mites or other insects I'm pretty sure the 12 or so other plants it is kept with would show signs as well. NYCorchidman, I will give phyton 27 a shot. I wish it was one affected leaf but it's pretty much all the leaves. The new growths only have a couple spots so far so I am hoping I can hold them to that. Thank you again for the help! Good luck and please update any progress.

Look up CymMV virus on oncidiums. Pretty close match visually.
