Hime-kaioumaru need info about it

I purchased a bean leaf Neo with the following name on the tag about 2 years ago. Hime-kaioumaru, all the info I have is that it is a bean leaf, but the leaves are slightly larger than my other bean leafs but smaller than my normal Neo's. I think I purchased it from Seed Engi but I can't remember . The plant has 2 spikes on it now, any additional information you can give me will be greatly welcomed

Hello Luckygrower, if you have the time, post a picture of your Hime-Kaioumaru 姫海王丸! You probably did buy your plant from Seed Engei. That is the vendor I bought my Hime-Kaioumaru. This is how they describe this plant:

"Self-seedling of KAIOUMARU. Kaioumaru is first bean leaf type of Amami Furan. Popular because of their big upright leaves and great shapes. Mud brown stem and roots, crecent moon tsuke, white flower."

Since your plant is spiking, you must have grown your plant in the proper culture. Neofinetia falcata seem to me to be a very hardy plant and tolerant of "normal" conditions--clean and regular watering, bright light, lots of fresh air, and a good range of temperature and humidity.

Thank you very much for the info. I will post a picture as soon as I figure out this new windows 8 with the touch screen. I seem to always touch the screen at the wrong place and lose everthing.

I hope this picture goes thru. It has 7 growths and 2 spikes

That is a very nice looking plant, luckygrower. Thanks for sharing its picture. You will absolutely enjoy its lovely fragrance--when the night falls. I have my blooming Neofinetia temporarily on my night table next to my bed and they fill the room. Congratulations.

Looks great, lucky. I'm showing your pic to mine to give it encouragement. :) No spikes so far.

It has bloomed and the fragrance is amazing. Here are a couple of pics, to bad I can't add the sweet fragrance. the flowers are a little different than normal Neo's as the flowers face up.

Beautiful. I checked mine for spikes. No such luck. Good job!

Tamagonko and Yodo-no-Matsu also have upward-facing flowers. I'm sure there are others. Like that feature very much.

I like the phrase: "heaven facing". Descriptions like that give Neofinetia that certain mystique.
