Cinnamon

I have had good results with cinnamon tea in fighting funguses that affect soil and leaves.. The list of bacterial and fungal infections is long and a "broad spectrum" treatment like cinnamon is helpful. I personally find a liquid easier to apply to soil and leaves by spraying or drenching.

Explain how you create this tea please?

Boil cinnamon in water for 15+ minutes, then strain
A tablespoon in a measuring cup of water would be in the ballpark. Your mileage may vary.

One caution. I haven't used it on orchid leaves, just other plants. You may have to adjust the strength. Try it on something not precious first.

Or...as a general purpose insecticide/fungicide spray (and mild bactericide):
  • Get a pint of isopropyl rubbing alcohol.
  • Add 2 tablespoons cinnamon powder.
  • Close, shake well, and let it stand overnight.
  • Filter out sediment (coffee filters work great)

Perfectly safe on orchids, as is the water extract.

Thanks both for the recipes.

I'm looking for something as a fungicide, and I had forgotten the cinnamon infusions.
