Vanda tricolor in bloom
1 Attachment(s)
This plant came to me as an estate rescue. Over the years the roots have grown to about 8 ft (they lay on the greenhouse floor). It has 5 growing shoots and the two largest take turns blooming.

That's gorgeous! How large is the flower?
|
2 1/2" across the petals - I think the late winter/early spring blooms may push 3".
|
Gorgeous!
I looove this species' blooms! |
What you have is Vanda tricolor, variety suavis.
Std tricolor is yellow/brown with the purple lip. |
Thanks - it was originally labeled V. suavis var. tricolor and I had read that suavis was reduced to synonym. Good to know the the difference is recognized as a variety.

Really lovely!
