Deflasking today........

So today I deflasked another 4 of them. With all these flasks I waited too long to deflask them but being time poor makes it hard. But no excuses for one flask that I have had for over a year. Anyway at the risk of being criticised for my technique I am posting photos anyway. I have had trouble separating some of the plants so rather than risking root damage I have made mini 'compots' rather than potting individually. I would always prefer to pot individually from flask but that's just me (apparently). Anyway here are some photos....

This first tray has two hybrids I bought in Taiwan in March........

Paph Fireworks x (Enzan Fancifully x Freckle) on the left hand side of the tray.
Paph Twinkling Stars x (Bucolic Day x Lovely Land) on the right hand side.

In this tray I have some really unusual companions but for now they are ok.

Paph Fanaticum x Sakaki (awesome potential) which are on the left hand side.
Lc Seagulls Roayl Flash x C.Intermedia 'Aquinii' x (Pittana x Leopoldii x C Lynn Spencer) No.1 - if anyone can decipher what this actually means I would appreciate it. No way should this label be so long.

Surprised to see that you pot seedlings individually.

Most of the flasks I receive have seedlings so closely together, that the only choice is to put everything into one compot, and wait for seedlings to develop more robust roots. Only when seedlings are spaced well apart, is it possible to separate them straight out of the flasks.

I compotted a bunch of flasks in August, and just potted the first two up into individual 2" & 3" pots. Sizes ranged from runts at 3/8" to strong plants at 5".

With these i had no problem separating most of them. In fact two of the flasks had plants falling apart as they were washed. So separating wasn't to much of a problem. There were some as you can see that I have put into the pots together and that's because they were hard to separate and could only be put together.
