hi from medan indonesia

hi all,..:waving
i'm from medan indonesia.
this is my first year of growing orchid.
so far i have about 100 something orchids,.. 70 percent hybrid, 30 percent species,... (the species collection going to grow more rapid)
so far i've never killed any, but i want to learn more...
also want to ask if fellow indonesians know information about where i could find orchids i can't find ...
i like the orchid species from australia (the grass is greener on the other side), but i can't find anyone selling it here,...
other than that,... i'm very much interested on looking at orchids with problems, so maybe if that ever happens to me, i could recognize it early and will know what to do straight away,...
but so far i'm being careful about the preventions, been googling, reading research, videos, asking sellers what they do to their orchids, people, hopefully my orchids stays healthy forever and don't have to experience anything bad,....
so ,.. hope this forum also be a good sharing experience,..

One hundred orchids in your first year? Wow! You are on the right track doing lots of research and especially to learn what will grow best in your conditions. Have fun and welcome to the Board.

thank you picotee, tarev for welcoming me,..
picotee,.. yes it's going fast and maybe i shouldn't go this fast, but i can't help myself. also i got support from people close to me. they also give gifts of orchids, old ceramic pots, flower racks.. i happily accepts.
research, ..about what will grow best in my condition, actually the sellers also helping.. but i double check again. a few times i requested a particular species and seller said: don't , it will die + reasoning,..
all good now, hope it stays that way. but ofcourse i'm reading, googling, watching videos a whole lot, but never enough.
problem is still with remembering species names,.. that is probably the hardest part for me.. not so good with people's names and now orchids,..

Hello & welcome, you will find so much of value in the posts on Orchid board. I first joined months ago, but somehow had to repeat the whole process - I must have been tossed out with the dead flowers & dry leaves! Remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question, so ask ask ask. The members are fantastic in supporting new growers.

hi edward,.. thank you for welcoming also giving the encouragement to ask many questions :)
about the posts here,..i believe so too,..
i'm reading an argument about fertilizer in this forum and it's fantastic. the fact that i could skip so many article/research readings because the people arguing in the thread are so advanced in the growing orchid field. this matches my expectations on joining this forum.
