Hi there
I'm new to this site and to growing Orchids! Wondering where the best place to get interesting ordchids from. I live in Orangeville Ontario.

Welcome to the best Orchid Board on the web! All of my Dad's family (him included) come from Canada - Ontario to be specific as well as my Mom's ancestors. Nice area and nice folks you have there. I look forward to reading your posts and I hope I may be able to offer some answers from time to time.

I find orchid shows good (like at the RGB in Hamilton and Toronto in Feb/March). They have a good selection of orchids being sold by the members as well as vendors from around the region.

Orchid show are a great way, you get a chance to talk with the grower and get a good idea of how they grow and what will suit your conditions.

While there are many great growers in Canada, one that immediately comes to mind is Cloud's Orchids.
They have always exceeded my expectation when ordering via mail, but they also have open houses 2x per month!!

I agree, Clouds is a great place. I went to the last open house and picked up 8 plants ranging from $5 - $25, from 'medium seedling' to 'blooming size'. I also have a miltonia woodlands whic I bought from them 1 1/2 years ago, healthy but has yete to flower - probably my conditions
