Root rot?
 

This is my second orchid I ever bough, and I noticed that the leaves aren't shiny compared to my others. There's also a lot of knicks on the leaves.

I noticed in the center looking down from the top, it's black. I've had no new leaf growth and I'm wondering if the plant is just doomed.

Is that water in the top? Or mold can you tell?

It's not water. I always make sure to dry off the leaves after watering.

The center is totally black like it got burned. I'm wondering if that's the beginning of root rot and I should just throw it out because that's where the new leaves will form.

How often do you water?
Do you water from the top like does water get in the crown?

I can't tell really what I am looking at I am blind as a Bat in daylight. But I would definitely until you figure out what is going on keep it away from the other plants that you have in case this is something contagious.

It's by itself in a window in my bathroom that gets indrect sunlight and steam from the shower. I water it about twice a week since it's been hot here lately.

Is the black spot squishy. It could be rot but I am not an expert. I feel other experts will hopefully chime in and give you better help.

It does look like your phal has crown rot. The funny thing about phals is that in nature, many hang sideways or even upside-down while others live where it is breezy and the water dries from the leaves quickly and in these cases, water isn't able to sit in the crown. Some phals are more prone to crown rot because of how the leaves grow.
If you want to try to save the orchid, isopropyl alcohol is very good at disinfecting and drying and by treating it twice a day for a few days, you might be able to stop the rot if it hasn't gone too far into the stem. Good luck!

It looks like crown rot to me as well.

Generally care not to get water in the crown will avoid it, but I've had one or two that did this without a known cause.

I try isopropyl alcohol like suggested above. Sorry I can't really give more advice on what to do now.

I agree.. it sounds like crown rot. Maybe by having it in the bathroom the humidity was too much with little ventilation and water accumulated in the crown without you noticing :(. Or maybe, it was already sick when you got it, it happens!
You can try and use Hydrogen Peroxide pouring it freely in the crown; if it bubbles, you have an infection. You can repeat this treatment daily until no bubbles appear. Just be sure to place the orchid where it gets good ventilation and avoid watering through this process. Maybe it can be saved!!

Agree with the crown rot. Follow the advise given above..especially about the ventilation. Sometimes we get too engrossed with watering, and tend to forget the aspect of ventilation. These plants, they like that air circulation a lot, especially after watering.
