Hooked on Slc. Hazel Boyd 'Debbie' --two seedlings
2 Attachment(s)
I got Slc. Hazel Boyd 'Debbie' a couple months ago. I loved the flowers so much that I picked up another at the same greenhouse. They are very different!
In the first picture (my first hazel) the flowers were newly opened. I didn't get a picture of the second one until the flower had been open a while. Attachment 98956 Attachment 98957 |

Thanks for telling me, plumania. I think they should work now.

Ooo! Gorgeous!

They're both beautiful. I don't know how that kind of thing happens. Seed grown hybrids from the same parents can look very different but if they both carry the clonal name 'Debbie' then they should be mericlones of the same plant. Which one do you like best?

Beautiful!

Tucker, next time I'm at the greenhouse I'll have to ask Paul. Lighting and the difference in the blooms' ages are partly responsible for the contrast. The first one showed more orange as it aged. I'm looking forward to a re-bloom so I can get pictures of both of them fresh.
As for picking a favorite, I'm hopeless. Their color phases through the day as the light changes, and as they age, fascinate me. I'm so drawn to their shape and moods that I could stare all day. Probably have, since I've taken a thousand pictures of both. |
