Anybody know what kind of plant this is?

It's my moms and I like it. She doesn't remember what it is. She said she bought it potted like this. Although she said it was a much fuller plant. She's convinced it's dying. I noticed when she watered it should filled it with water. She's out of town so I dumped out most of the water so that it's only in the hydroton part. It's also got some bark/moss type stuff that the roots are growing through on top of the hydroton. Seems to be a bit happier since I got rid of some of the water. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/06/3ygy2uqy.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/06/a9anasu7.jpg

Ah, I don't think I ever knew the name but my Mum used to grow them.

Just did a search for "Heart Shaped Leaf Houseplant" on google and came up with Anthurium andraeanum. That's the one my Mum had, and looks like the leaves of yours.

Looks like an anthurium (painters pallet) plant. But thats just a guess, could be wrong...

Thanks for the replies! Anyone ever see one potted like this? In a glass vase with hydroton and bark like medium?

Awesome! I think my moms was getting too much water, she would fill it right to the rim basically. How should much water should it have? I don't know too much about SH, I want to learn more about it though.

Ray Barkalow, one of our members has an awesome section on SH. Check his website firstrays.com . tons of information complete with illustrations

Anthurium is what I would have guessed.

Amusing some of the common names applied to Anthurium. Knew a little old lady who jokingly referred to the flowers as "little boys" and a buddy of mine who used to work in the plant nursery sector said everyone working at the greenhouse referred to them as "penis on a platter".
