My first flowering of Cattleya labiata
A couple of months ago I posted a message concerning roting problems of the shied of my Cattleya labiatia Here.
Finally after having dried the shied with cinnamon powder and removed these a few days after I have to open the second...but now it is in flower. It is not perfect but it is the result of a culture of seedlings produced In vitro and bought 5 years ago. http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/9...taresizdq2.jpg[/URL] |
Congrats, Intruder!
It seems a coerulea, or coerulescens, variety; it's blooming more or less in the same time it blooms in Brazil (fall), its former name was C labiata autumnalis. C labiata is our "Queen of the North" ('cause it cames from northeastern Brazil, mainly Alagoas, Pernambuco and Ceará states); our "Queen of the South" (and for many the "Queen of Brazilian Orchids") is Laelia purpurata (São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul states), for sure!! |
Wow, 5 years! It must be nice to finally see the fruits of your labor!! As someone who has a whole "fleet" of seedlings, I understand how waiting for so long can seem to take forever!! Nice flower and good growing!!

Very nice, Intruder! First blooms are rarely perfect, so you have some really nice flowerings to look forward to. Congrats, and good growing!
