Aerides rosea vase culture
Hello all, new to the forum, appreciate looking up info on my favorite orchids which helps to get through our long Quebec winters...
Just got an Aerides rosea and was wondering if anyone out there has tried vase culture for this one. Thanks ! |

You will have better success with clay pot or teak basket. Aed rosea do like dryer cooler winter, as its not low land specie.
a lady from my society grow her Vandas in glass vase with good success, but you got to water it at least once a day. Too much hassel imo. |
Aerides rosea are best grown hanging in baskets or mounted and require bright to full sunlight and warm temperatures. If hanging or mounted, the roots must be watered frequently or if potted it should be grown in a well draining media mix such as tree fern shards, coarse fir bark, charcoal and lava rock.
I put some of my Vandas in vase culture indoors in the colder months but I put them outdoors hanging in baskets in the summer gradually weaned to the shaded sun or the leaves will burn. |

Thanks people ! Will wait for repotting time to decide if I go ahead with a vase for my Aerides rosea.
Have 4 vandas doing fine in vases, will research more for the Aerides and let you know if I find anything. |
