Autumn bloomers.

A few photos of the bits and pieces in flower now that the searing Australian summer heat has eased a bit.

First up is an interesting little hybrid, BPL Golden Spice "Red Peppers". The first photo is the day the first blossom opened, the second is two weeks later. An interesting colour shift.

Next up is a NOID Brassia. A reliable bloomer for me, though a little late this year. Lovely, fragrant blooms.

A delightful little set of Phalaenopsis all madly blooming. The first pictured is violacea, fantastic powerful scent. Next is fasciata - also fragrant - but a softer smell, and more akin to freshly cut green apples. Last is a NOID, species or hybrid - I have no idea. It's not fragrant, but it is prolific.

Another clockwork bloomer for me, a NOID Zygopetalum. Big, chunky blossoms and a fragrance that fills the glasshouse. Always a joy.

Next up a random hybrid I picked up a while back. SLC Kauai X Brassavola nodosa. Amazing, pure, electric yellow flowers on this, and it got the nodosa's wonderful night fragrance as well!.

Another late bloomer this year, Epidendrum planiculatum. Usually flowers through summer for me, this year it's waited a few extra months. Fragrant of honey - the warmer the day, the stronger the fragrance.

And finally one that I'm frankly surprised flowered at all. Maxillaria cucullata. It was given to me as a gift, and has always sulked a little in my warm-to-hot glasshouse. I give it too much heat and too much light, yet it flowered pretty well this year for the first time anyway. No detectable scent on this one.
