What's The Most You Ever Spent For A Single Orchid?
My worst bout of insanity caused me to spend $80 on a specimen sized Dendrobium cyanocentrum, including shipping. In the interest of complete openness about my condition I must admit that I was prepared to pay a bit over $100 including shipping for a slightly larger one but got outbid. Hey at least I admit I have a problem.......

My Paph. was $41 at a local nursery, but I'm a newbie so..... But we'll see if I go to a show this weekend, hopefully not, but I may change my response here.

I went through my yearly orchid allowance by the end of Feb. I still have not paid over $20.00 on an orchid because most I get on discount. I will not be spending the big bucks until I am sure that I can take care of them properly.

I will just say, with the "growing" collection and "deeper" orchid madness you get into, your price range will raise rapidly. Last year in the summer I would still not spend more than $40 for an orchid, and I had only one at that time that was over $40. Nowadays, if the price is anywhere under $50 it is great, if it goes over $100 than I am still paying it for the pieces hard to get, I am still hesitant to spend more than $200 for a single piece:-)

I've bought several orchids in the $80-$100 range. I try to be a little more careful now, just because an orchid is expensive, doesn't mean I'm going to like it any better than my cheaper ones. I don't mind paying more if I'm absolutely sure that it's a very special plant.

$35 on a single orchid for me, but I'm pretty new to this and am sure I will spend more on one that really catches my eye!

My most expensive was my Psychopsis, which was $25.

$35. Very nice catt which I sold as part a fire sale I had a couple years ago. 350 orchids for $350. But most of my orchids are either found around trash cans or dumpsters when I walk around town or to the beach. And I get lots and lots of great deals at the shows I attend. I go straight to the donation tables and get many orchids for $1 to $5. In two weeks the San Diego orchid Society is having their spring "Symphony of Orchids show. I've lots of money to spend on rescues and donated material. I'm going to concentrate on smaller phals and cats/laelias to mount. It's interesting that the C. Pale Lady that I paid $35 for ended up having a terrible virus. Turned all splotchy and slowly dwindled. New owner was ok with it. If any of you can get to a show, by all means go. And go at the end of the show. Growers/vendors don't want to hump those plants back with them. Some real bargains to be had.

yeah, I had to have that paph Claire de lune that I paid $100 for....I sure do love it tho! very tall, large elegant green and white maudiae.....I saw one when I was young, and that was one of my 'target' plants, lol.....and the paph 'chu hua dancer' was nearly as much.....ouwieeee! they are firmly ensconced on my light stand, I hated giving up my greenhouse but I think those two will be fine.....
