budding cattleya walker...
Hey any Catt. walkeriana pros out there? Have a flamea form, and am curious how to get the best colour of the flower in relation to light exposure. I grow currently under a metal halide 1000w bulb with about a meter between the reflector and the plant. Does increases light produce better colour, or should I let the bud develop in a shaded intermediate area? Any tips.

My experience with Cattleya showed me that the colours of flowers were always nicer with a weaker luminausity (1000 footcandle _ 1000 to on 1500 Lux) and a cool temperature (10 to 15°C _ 55 to 60 °F).

I am editing my previous answer and posting a link to a post from the best walkeriana breeder in the US. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...-blooming.html
---------- Post added at 05:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:29 PM ---------- And another post you might find helpful from the same breeder. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...-divina-3.html I would scroll back to read the whole thread, but the third page addresses your question in this post directly. |
Thanks!
