Cattleya lueddemanniana alba 'Morocha' ?

This is supposed to be cultivar 'Morocha', but compared to the photos I've previously seen this one's petals are too narrow. I would love to here what other's think good or bad.

I've been growing this plant for a couple of years now. I was really disappointed the first time it bloomed. They were tiny 4" flowers, but with every blooming since they have incresed in size. Now they are up to a 6" natural spread. Another point on the bright side is it is a true lueddemannaina.

This is stunning, Ted. I can't compare it to other clones, but a white Cattleya species is close to heaven.

Thanks again Ron!

This is my favorite Cattleya species. Each lead blooms for me a couple times per year. So a plant with multiple leads maturing at different times can be blooming several times a year.

lueddemanianas can sometimes be deceiving, they can get "bad flowers" and next blooming be extremely good improving in all areas. hard to understand why that happens , but it does.

being said that, it does look "morocha" to me. (it is a classic and i believe it was collected a long time ago, might be mistaken--unlikely--,)

for that particular bloom , the flower shape is not very good (for lueddemaniana standards). but still albas are "weaker" and harder to grow/bloom than the regular types, but hey it is always refreshing to see a plant from my native venezuela! good growing!!!

i might be mistaken but if i remember correctly the main feature of that clone is the flower size, (that is larger than others albas? )

thanks for sharing.!!!

edit : nice article from Gerardo castiglionne and others about venezuelan cattleyas!

i would love to have a piece of this classic! really nice! .

(this clone is now on my wish list, i remember a few enthusiast in venezuela with this clone, ( adolfo alayon and others)...

may i ask how much you paid for it? and where did you bought it? and if you are willing to trade for it (for another selected clone?)

Cheers!
Antonio.
