Diplocaulobium 2 flowers on PB/leaf common?
My Diplocaulobium aratriferum is doing quite well. Recently had 18 flowers, just for one day, but was spectacular. Out of the maybe 100-200 flowers of the lifetime of the plant thus far, once I had two flowers come out from one leaf base/pseudobulb.
Is this common? Are 3 or 4 possible? |
I don't know but I'd really like to see a pic (or more) of the plant: it's lovely! How do you grow it?

Here is a picture of the entire plant with 18 flowers:
Attachment 93927 Below is a blow up of a couple of flowers: Attachment 93928 I grow it in a terrarium on the cool side (50-80F) under a 4-bank of T5HOs high up in the terrarium. It gets misted every day for a couple of minutes, and then fertilized once or twice a week with K-lite RO. It sits in a ~2" clay pot with mostly roots, a bit of cocohusk filler. Leaves are not that great, but it sure flowers. So no complaints. |
Fabulous!

It's wonderful! It's pity (for me) that's a cool grower :( I can't get less than 14°C (58° F).

Sobrofio, in my opinion, cool growers do best in cooler temperatures but they don't like warmer temperatures above 80*F. You might be able to grow it in your environment. It does seem to like a lot of moisture. Thank you for sharing your plant tropterrarium. Excellent photography!

Matt, 14°C/58°F are minimum in winter night, maximum day temp in summer is 95°F/35°C.. too much :(
Only intermediate and warm for me. |
